Things to Do in Greenwich
Greenwich city is a haven for some of the most interesting attractions you will ever find. Some of these attractions have made history while others are just too spectacular, and your instincts will beg to explore them. As Greenwich minibus hire, we are making it easier for you; let our trained and friendly chauffer do all the driving while you and your friends get to enjoy the birthday city tour.
The Royal Observatory
This beautifully designed dome houses one of the largest telescopes on earth. The site was constructed in the late 16th century and was used mainly for astronomy and navigation purposes. As a landmark in Greenwich, it also marks the point where the Greenwich Meridian or prime meridian originates. It’s located next to Greenwich Park on Avenue road and our birthday coach driver will drop you by for a full day of exploration.
Old Royal Naval College
In the whole of Greenwich, this building scoops the top position for being one of the most beautifully designed structures. You will marvel at the symmetry and preciseness of the medieval gothic design, which is a brainchild of three distinguished architects; John Vanbrugh, Christophe Wren and Nicholas Hawksmoor. Ever heard of the famous Painted Hall in London? It’s right at the heart of Old Royal Naval College! Additionally, visit the chapels of St. Paul and St. Peter to marvel at the beautiful mural walls, the Samuel Green Organs, and Benjamin West’s famous altarpiece painting.
The Queen’s House
As the name suggests, this was a former royal residence for the Queen of London. It was completed in 1635 and housed the royal family through to the 17th century. The Queen’s House is the first classical building of its kind and today it houses the rarest of art collections from excellent artists like Van de Veldes. The premise had closed down to undergo some renovations and will open in 2016 to celebrate its 400th anniversary. It could be the highlight of your birthday being part of this grand opening.
